Question:
"Ache" in pit of stomach

I am almost 8 months postop open RNY. I have had an "ache" in the pit of my stomach for over a week now. I still get hungry and can still eat, but I get this "ache". I don't want to call it pain, because it isn't. I had stopped taking my Prilosec for awhile and then restarted, but only one pill a day instead of two and in the last few days I increased it back to 2 pills a day to see if it would make a difference. It seems a little better, but it is still this gnawing, uncomfortable ache. Anyone else have this? Thanks for your help!    — ALafferty (posted on March 3, 2008)

My heart Doc had me taking a full aspirn and it burnt a hole in my pouch. Other things can cause this, if you had a RNY. If a Lap Band, I can't really say.

Sounds like it could be an ulcer to me. Does it help to eat something? I had an ulcer for a while and if my pouch was completely empty, I had a gnawing, burning sensation. You need to be on an ulcer-healing med. such as carafate. I had to take if for about 3 months. Please see your Dr. asap.

Anya, belly pain means you need to call your surgeon. I just went to support group last night and they re spoke that. Belly pain means call your surgeon. It could be indigestion or an ulcer, but it could also be an internal hernia which can be dangerous. Call them and get seen right away please. Patricia P.
