Question:
My goal was to wear a size 12 and get to 170lbs
I'm at my size 12 but I'm still 186lbs. Have I reached goal? or where do I go from here. I had the band on Oct 11 and haven't had any fills — bchicks42 (posted on January 7, 2008)

Shoot, congradulations! That is wonderful. I think I would go for the 170
if that was your goal weight. Getting into a 12 is awsome. If you've been
doing exercise regularly you've probably but some good muscle in there (way
to go!) and that would most likely be why you hit the 12 before you hit the
170, simply because muscle is more dense than fat, so it occupyies less
space but may weigh more. Yes, I'd keep going to the 170. You'll probably
find yourself in a 9/10 by then.
Congrats again, Leslie

If you feel good, GREAT! You met one goal of the size 12. If you get down
to 170 wonderful. If not don't sweat it. I am sure you look great!

That's awesome -- congratulations. I'm down to 185, and between Size 14/16
-- I stick with the 16 due to the loose skin. That is great news and great
progress. I have no idea how small I'm going to get. I'm post-op 11
months bypass.

It's still early in your weight loss; did your surgeon discuss goals with
you? I had to bring it up with my surgeon; he told me what my
"normal" weight should be, we both decided that's way to low (I'm
5'3" and should be about 135 - 140 lbs, but I'm also 56 years old and
have NO desire or expectations to wear a bikini!) and agreed about 145 -
150 would be fine. But he also said that this can be re-evaluated as I lose
weight. I also discussed this conversation with my primary care physician
because he's the one that I work with for all my medical problems, and he
also agreed with this plan. With your surgery in October you can have a
fill if you'd like; I'd suggest you contact his office and see what they
think.

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!My opinion you have reached goal. I think if you get to
your weight goal, you'll probaly get down at least another size, may be
two!!! Great job!!!

Are you complaining or bragging? ;-) I would not concern myself about the
"extra" weight you thought you needed to lose at one time. If you
are at a healthy weight and you are happy with what you see in the mirror,
what more could you ask for? Count yourself among the fortunate and stop
beating yourself up over some erstwhile misguided goal.

My goal was 150 and I NEVER reached it. I got to 152 (after about 10-20
pounds of lose skin was removed) and I looked bad. My husband's mother
asked him if I was sick because I was looking "gaunt". My point
is--you may think you want to get to a certain weight, but some big people
have big bones that make them able to carry more weight and look small!!!
So if you look good and feel good, be happy about what you have done so
far. If you look 16 pounds fine, if not that will be fine too!!

The really nice thing about goals and success for human beings is that we
get to define it. You defined it previously. Do you accept the current
circumstances as success? If yes, then you have done it! If you want
further goals for further success it doesn't take away from this success of
yours. Good on you! You've done really well!

Try using a search engine to find a BMI chart. Look up your height and
figure out what the weight range is for someone with a "normal"
BMI. Is 186 in that range?
How do you feel? Are you still having weight related complications? Do
you feel satisfied with how you look/feel?
Where do you go from here.... well, if you are satisfied that you've met
your goal weight, then celebrate!! :) If not, give yourself some time to
get to where you want to be. Once you've reached your set goal, then you
need to work on maintaining your weight loss.
Congrats and good luck.
