I have heard about a shampoo called Nioxin, available at salon's and
Wal-marts Hair salon also. I haven't tried it yet (need to soon, Im newly
post-op and losing hair) But I heard this works well. Also hear it tingles
a bit when applied. Good Luck!!! Suzanne

I'd check with your doctor. I know my surgeon recommends Biotin supplements
plus a medicated shampoo. I think Nizorole was the brand. A current blood
test might help show what your body might be lacking in nutrients for
proper hair growth. Typically, for listening at support group meetings, the
hair loss only last a few months and is typicall seen 3-9 months post of,
and only lasting a few months. If you've had other surgeries since your
first surgies, that may account for the long period of hair loss.

When I had my surgery in 2002, I started losing hair and immediately
started using a product called "Healthy Hair, Skin and Nails", by
Procaps Labs, possibly on HSN also. Within weeks the fall out stopped and
my hair has been better than it ever was since before I had my children in
the late 60's. My curl is back (good or bad), and it has shine also. PS:
I do not sell this product.

I would work on the protein and vitamins, and water, Also I would message
my head with a massager for stimulation, I one time a few years ago had
hair loss being a cosmetologist before I went to the basics and it helped I
massaged my hair with a messager upto 2x a day. and when I washed my hair I
would slowly and gently massage it in circular motions, You also my may
want to Get your labs checked.

Still losing hair after 4 years post op. I think that is just the way it
is for us weight loss surgery patients.

You will certainly have some thinning if you are not getting in your
protein. I had this problem and I started using the protein because I knew
I was not getting mine in through eating. I also used the Nioxin shampoo
and with doing both mine stopped falling out.

Hi, I have not yet had my WLS, but I have had hair loss after my total
hysterectomy in 1991. I have found that Nioxin Shampoo and an amino acid
supplement called A/G Pro by Miller Labs has helped. Not saying that it
has re-grown much hair, but has at least kept it healthier and less falling
out. Check with your Dr.'s office about the supplement before taking it.
Best wishes!!

The Nioxin works really well - but my recommendation is to see a
dermatologist. Mine diagnosed my hair loss troubles in only a few mnutes
and has been tremendously helpful in understanding and combating this as an
ongoing problem.

Its very unnerving I KNOW...taking prenatal vitamins (im 43)lol and biotin
vitamins at GNC help a lot. Make sure you're taking all your supplements.
