Question:
how do you know how many times it will take to get your band filled?
I have never spit up my food or anything. i can eat way more than they tell me to eat, but i try not to over do it. i have had one fill, but that's not doing it. — whitneylasha (posted on September 1, 2006)

Conventional wisdom says it takes around three fills to hit the "sweet
spot", and that was true for me. However, the sweet spot doesn't last
forever, so you may need to tweak it until you hit goal. Once you're at
goal, you should be able to maintain on that last fill.
Don't do as I did and wait too long between fills. If you feel like you
need a fill, get one. :) Good luck!

Yes, that has also been true for me. It finally seemed to kick in by the
third fill. Still, make sure that you are eating less, chewing well and
getting in "practice" for that fill that will finally do the
trick. I was very surprised when I went home after the third fill, ate
lunch and had to bring half of it back up because it got stuck! That
wasn't pleasant. I have since had several experiences where food got stuck
because I took too large of bites, I ate too fast or just tried to eat the
wrong foods. That's especially bad when we're at a resaurant! I'm
learning, though, and it's great to really know that it's working!
