Question:
Has any one had jaw pain after lap rny surgery?

two and a half weeks post-op. Jaw pain started about seven days ago. Can't open my mouth any larger than to bite a pop sicle.    — JLKOOG (posted on March 22, 2006)

It sounds like you may be clenching your jaw at night. I had the same thing before surgery and was given a mouth guard and then when I started having the pain like you are experiencing the doctor put me on an anti-depressant and it cleared right up. I am 7 months post-op and am off the medications all together.

My first thought was lockjaw which can be a symptom of TMJ which usually occurs from teeth grinding. I agree with the previous poster, you should let your doc know about it.

Hi, when I read your question I thought of lockjaw also, which can be caused by infection also. If you have a fever along with the jaw problem, please contact your doc...ASAP. I would just call my doc anyway and explain my symptoms. good luck! Lisa Hackenburg lap/rny 10-23-03 340+/172/???
