your profile doesn't mention what kind of surgery you had.

But.......... isn't that the point? We were to eat 4-6 meals of 1-2 oz each. (until goal) So being able to eat tiny quantities doesn't seem wrong or strange to me. Did you expect to eat more right away?

I am almost 9 weeks out and usually can eat only 1 or 1 1/2 oz of solid food like fish or chicken and not always even that much. I seem to have better luck with Wendy's chilli...can eat a small cup as a meal and it has plenty of protein from the beef and beans and very little fat...just takes forever....hang in there...we are going to get better and yes, small amounts and several of them a day make for great weight loss....

That is normal. This is your tool. Use it! After a while your mind will reset to the smaller quantity being normal and you will be appalled by how large "normal" portions are. Do not make the mistake to compensate by eating more often. Your body doesn't need it. Alex Ferda, 4 months post-RNY, down 101 lbs.

I am 6 1/2 months out lap. RNY and most times I can only eat 2 to 3 small bites at one time. After about 15 minutes I can tell that my pouch has 'emptied' then I can eat a couple more bites. I expected this, didn't you? Did you have an RNY or another procedure? I actually am amazed that I can eat and tolerate (and have been able to since a couple months out) chicken, beef, fish, and other things that some RNY post ops cannot tolerate. You are still in the 'early' stages of post op. You will get used to eating just a couple bites at a time. I know it is weird to think that we are only eating that much- it was for me. Once the weight starts to melt off, you will be happy that is all you can eat. I am so happy that I can have just a bite of this or that now. I feel my choices and willpower have gotten healthier using the "tool" of the RNY surgery. Good luck. Smiles, Jenna

Carol, think about what you said.......... "can only eat a few bites". Do you feel hungry after that? The idea is to eat a lot "less" no matter what kind of surgery you have had. If you get to a point that you feel nauseated then you have over- eaten. Good luck with your weight loss and your future as a skinny person! ;0))

I am over a year out, and still can only eat a few ounces of food at a time. Rejoice!

I am 10 years out and I am able to eat small protion at a time. I still have to eat very slowly and every 2 hours. So what! I lost the weight, I am healthy, an active adult who is able to play and run with the kids. As long as I am not obcessed with food, and I am eating very small protions and slowly means that I had a succesful open GBP. remember not to drink and eat at once. No carbonated/soft drinks no matter what.

Carol, you lucky dog! Many eat too much way too quickly and wish they could eat a few bites and be done. AT 2-1/2 years post-op I struggle to keep it together and on those days or occasions when I truly can only eat two bites, I am so thankful. For me the idea was to be able to eat anything I wanted, two bites at a time, and be truly satisfied. When I was fat, I never knew what 2 bites were and always hoped I could be a thin person who was happy with two bites. Life is sweeter (literally) when two bites is enough. Take the ball and run with it!
