Typically psychologists do talk therapy while the psychiatrist is the med
prescriber. Either should be fine for what you are wanting to do, but it
will probably be more difficult to find a psychiatrist willing to do it
unless you already have an established relationship with one.

I went to a Psychiatrist for mine because he was the only person willing to
do a Bariatric psych eval without my having had previous therapy. Either
are qualified most people who go solely to a psychiatrist is because they
are on meds and a therapist or phychologist is not able to prescribe them.

most insurances ask for at least a psych. but i know that 'medicare', that
i have, must have a psychiatrist. i was lucky enough all ready have a
psychiatrist. i just had to persuade her that i know that this is a life
time commitment. had my hubby along also because i'm bipolar and he
promised to help her monitor my meds as we get used to the absorption of
them.

I had to have a psychiatrist! Call your insurance company and check which
you need, so that you don't waste time having the wrong thing done.

Depends on your insurance. I had BCBS of MI and I was able to use an
UNLICENSED psychologist.
