Some people become lactose intolerant after the surgery, others not. I
tried milk a couple weeks after surgery and it went down good, I only had 4
oz. I thought well if that went down o.k. I'll have more. That didn't go
well. It was too much. Try a little at a time and see how you feel. Also,
drink nonfat, it's better for you anyways.....lol

Actually milk is quite high in fat and calories. If you are planning to
drink milk after surgery I would recommend skim milk. You may also find
that after surgery milk may not agree with your system.

that is totally up to your body and if it tolerates it. A lot of the foods
we could tolerate before surgery, we may not be able to after surgery. So,
all I can suggest is give it a try.

I drink milk everyday at least 2 times a day but it has to be fat free
milk.

I had to chuckle at this question. If you can handle the milk, I am sure
it is okay to drink it. Personally, I used to drink milk. Since surgery,
if I have a glass of milk, I can seriously clear a room in seconds!! The
gas is bad....I mean BAD! lol My partner no longer allows me to drink milk
at night!! lol Best of luck on this WILD ride!!

I am not allowed milk due to its high sugar content, but ask your doctor ir
nutritionist.

As the queen of NO MILK, I have to throw my 2 cents in. Fat won't make me
fat again, but sugar will. EVery cup of milk (the lower the fat, the
higher the sugar) has appx 13g sugar. 2 cups of milk = 1 Milky Way. We
can't properly use the dabs of calcium and protein in it, so it's just
candy in a white tuxedo. BTW, I thought my doc was NUTS when he said no
milk. Milk is a healthy food, isn't it? No. It's to fatten up baby cows
and baby people. I was interested in becoming un-fattened, so have
remained milk free for almost 12 years. As it is, I AM lactose intolerant,
but the only way I know that is by accident. I've lost and maintained 100%
of my excess, so I'm not willing to mess with success. And BTW, I LOVED
milk. It was my beverage of choice pre-op. But I'd rather be a size 3
than to play with it again.

I loved milk pre-op and I love milk post-op. I had no trouble with it and
still drink plenty (1% milk) throughout the day. I really would be lost
without it. I wish I was able to do water as well as I do my milk!

Yeah, what Michelle said...'cept I'll add that I will put cream or
half&half in my coffee sometimes cuz it has less sugar, is an awesome
treat, and that amount of fat in the one "plunk" to enrich my
coffee ain't gonna bother me.

I would say fat free milk would be ok but the other would have to much fat
content. After having the surgery that is the thing you must watch is the
fat and sugar content in foods and drinks...

I was told by my dietician after surgery that I should not drink more than
16 ounces of milk a day and it should only be skim milk... Milk, even skim
milk has 13 grams of sugar in it.. You should not drink 1/2 gallon a
day...
