Well, first things first -- find an OB that specializes in high-risk pregnancies. I imagine you'll need to be on a special diet plan the whole time and your OB can help you with that. From what I've read, you'll need a special OB because they have experience with WLS - Pregnancies. Best wishes with your new baby! :)

There's a yahoo group that is devoted to post-WLS pregnancy. Go to www.yahoo.com, choose groups, and then search for OSSG pregnancy. I've seen a lot of posts from women who became pregnant within a year after surgery and have yet to see anyone who had significant problems. It's not recommended to get pregnant that soon, but that doesn't mean you can't manage it successfully. Good luck!

First thing you need to do is schedule an appt with an OB, and let your surgeon know. I am 8 months post op RNY, down 100 lbs :) and 3 months pregnant. I expected to have so many complications and I was scared to death, but things have been smooth. My hair has even started to grow back. My dr. has been certain to schedule extra testing and make sure I see a nutritionist that specializes in WLS and pregnancy. Please don't worry too much, just remember everything you put in your mouth at this point is extra crucial. Don't fill up that pouch with empty calories the baby won't benefit from. E.G...pretzels, chips, candy, etc. Good luck and congrats!
