Question:
Eating starch the week before surgery.

Mon son hear something on the cooking network about eating either alot or very little starch the week prior to surgery because if will help you come out from under anesthesia better. He could not remember which one. Has anyone ever heard of this?    — Betty M. (posted on June 28, 2001)

I AM HAVING WLS ON 8-7-01. MY SURGEON WANTS ME TO GO ON A HIGH PROTEIN, LOW CARB DIET TO REDUCE THE SIZE OF MY LIVER. HE SAID IT WILL BE EASIER TO GET TO THE STOMACH AND INTESTINES THAT WAY. GOOD LUCK TO YOUR SON.
