When I weighed 230 lbs, I was using my inhaler sometimes 4 times per day.
Now at 133 lbs, I rarely use it at all.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!

Hello,
I have asthma, I did notice that it did get some what better. In the summer
time it seems to be about the same, I live in Pittsburgh Pa, we get alot of
humid weather, so it does bother me then. One thing I know since I lost 100
pounds it sure is more easy to breathe, I hope this helps a little...

Me, too. Mine was not very bad, but it was a nuisance. It seemed to just
sort of fade away. From my first post-op visit on, they never mentioned it
again. After about 3 months I asked how it was. They moved the stethescope
around more and said, "What asthma?" Cool, huh?

I too have asthsma that was very hard to control before surgery 3 months
ago. I was on 2 inhalers, the nebulizer and sometimes oral drugs as well.
When it got really bad, I had to be on steroids. I have not had to take a
single thing for my asthsma since I left the hospital. They give you
breathing treatments and inhalers during your hospital stay as a preventive
measure. I was on 8 different drugs and the only thing that I take now is
my estrogen replacement. Talk about freedom!

I am 5 months post op, and I can say it's getting better. Prior to WLS, it
was getting beyond the nuissance stage, and in fact, it was a factor in
deciding to have WLS. The heavier I get, the more breathing issues I have
had over the years. It has improved, but not gone away yet. I did
struggle with an attack in late July which was a real pain, but I survived
it. If you haven't already had surgery, remember that when they ask you to
cough and do breathing exercises, it's very important for you to do so,
even when it hurts. It will help prevent pneumonia. Good luck!
