Question:
what is time line from actual ref ltr to surgery date apprx.

when i had it done in 94 in sasktoon which apparently it wastn't done according to exays done here (talk about feeling raped) but i have this huge scare that says i did it took apprx 18 months from intro letter to actual surgery, is the time line same, less, more, here of course after jumping thru all the hoops. i already have my phsycologist preparing a letter of good candidacy but haven't even gotten ab aot at the tache clinic yet.    — ducale (posted on February 17, 2011)

not sure what you are asking but I think from the first doc appt to the surgery and if you had it already, then no need to worry about it..all insurance companies will have their requirements a will each doctor, for me, I had to speak to a health coach for six months one per month..then a doctor visit, then nutritionist, psychologist and several other appts first...so it takes a while depending on how busy the office is

I had to do 6 months of nutrition counseling before insurance would consider approving a consult with a bariatric surgeon. My surgery was 3.5 months after my initial consultation with the surgeon. I have a timeline on my profile, if you'd like to take a look at it.

Hi, I do imagine it varies with different insurance companies. I received my referral letter on Oct.15th, then two weeks out I had an appointment with the Bariatric clinic. There are still hoops to go through, psychatric eval, ekg and if all those go well then the bariatric clinic has to send another letter to the insurance company. I finally had everything completed by Jan.20th, received my approval letter on Jan.24. Just yesterday I went to the bariatric clinic, met with the nutritionist, surgeon and anastesiologist. My surgery in Mar.8. According to what I was told the surgeons only a small window they can use to complete the surgery. I start my pre-op diet on Tuesday for two weeks. I live in Washington State and my surgery will be at Virginia Mason in Seattle. Best to you. Kathee
