Question:
I had an abnoraml stress test I am seeing a cardiologist on monday
I am scheduled for a cardiac cath on tuesday. My gastric bypass was originally scheduled for thursday. How long do you think I will have to wait to have my gastric bypass surgery after the cardiac cath. — nanna5 (posted on January 1, 2010)

I WAS HAVING PALPITAIONS AND HAD TO GET A ECHO-CARDIOGRAM DONE BUT AS LONG
AS IT COMES BACK NORMAL AND THEY GET A CLEARANCE FROM YOUR MD FOR SURGERY
IT SHOULD GO VERY QUICKLY, FOR ME I HAD THE TEST MY MD GOT THE RESULTS THE
FOLLOWING DAY, I PICKED UP A COPY AND FAXED IT TO MY SURGEON. HOPE THE BEST
FOR YOU.

Hi, it will depend on the results. The procedure of the cath itself is not
too taxing on the body as long as you don't have an infection or bleed at
the groin needle insertion site. If the cath is positive for significant
artery disease it could delay your bariatric surgery quite a while. You
definately want the issue resolved before you undergo major surgery. It is
encouraging that you are with a bariatric surgeon who is being cautious to
minimize your risks. Good luck with everything. Kevin
