I also have lymph edema, my legs do not swell anywhere near as much as they
used to, but they still swell. I wear compression stockings, and was able
to go to a smaller size because my legs are about 2" smaller than
before surgery. May God Bless You Abundantly, Kathie

I was diagnosed this past summer with lymphodema in both lower legs. I was
also getting the rough scaly skin in front of the shins and lots of
swelling and pain. My rny was Nov 23. My legs have quit swelling as much. I
ride my stationary pedals 20 mins a day. Dont know if it has helped but its
the only excercise I can do right now. It hasnt gotten any worse so Im
happy right now. My surgeon said it would go away as I lose the wht. Best
of luck. Suzette

You might try to start wearing Compression Stockings 20-30mg compression.
I've been wearing them for several years and was told I may be for the rest
of my life. Put them on in the morning but take them off when you go to
bed. Wash in laundry BUT hang to dry.
I get two different sizes as my left leg swells more than my right leg.
Thus one pair of each size gives me two pairs then. Lasting 6-9 months.
Maybe a year at the most. But if you see a run in the stocking or it's very
easy to put them on, IT'S time for a new pair. I use the Jobst Relief Knee
Highs 20-30mmHg. Check online there are several websites just compare for
the best price & shipping charges.

I have had lymphedema for about 20 years, and I have seen a huge decrease
in the amount of swelling. And a decrease in the rough skin and open sores
that are affiliated.
I do wear compression hose and according to my doctor I may have to for the
rest of my life.BUT the discomfort and swelling has been decreased and I am
thrilled!!
My surgery was RNY Oct.19,2009. Good Luck and stay well...Happy Holidays!

I've had lymphedema for years. I wear compression stockings all day except
when I sleep. I've lost 100 pounds but still need to wear them. I've seen
several specialists that all tell me the same thing~these stockings are the
only thing you can do for lymphedema. I wear a smaller size stocking due
to the weight loss but still must wear them and will the rest of my life.
