Question:
Reaching goal weight and starting out in the 300"s

Hang in there, it sounds like you're doing great. I started out at 340, had surgery exactly one year ago today, and I weight 175 right now (165 lbs lost so far). My weight loss has slowed down, but I am still dropping clothes sizes. Don't get hung up on the number on the scale... after 77 pounds I know you are feeling better. You'll get there!

I had surgery 9/05/08 - started at 323. I now weight 153. I had lost around 80lbs in the same time frame as your 77lbs! Right on track! I have stopped losing weight but probably could lose some more if I reduced my calories again.

Hi, Ihad my surgery May 2008 and started at 343 lbs and currently at 175 lbs. I wouldn't get so hung up on the numbers on the scales. Go by how you feel and what your doc has to say. Remember the reason you had the surgery in the first place was for your health not for the numbers on the scale. Just keep following the program and you'll do OK.

Last night at WLS support group, a very wise lady reminded us all that this isn't a race. This is about your health. Stay with the basics (high protein, low carbs, lots of water, vitamins, exercise), and you will feel better not only physically but mentally. Enjoy the journey.

My friend started at 354, and she is now 150 pounds, she had surgery in July 2008, and her last weight (last week) was finally 150, so I say yes it is possible! Just follow the rules and guidelines with food and exercise and you can do it too!

Hello! I had lap RNY in Sept. of 2006. My starting weight was 350 lbs and I weigh today 147. I had reached 175 lbs (which was my surgeon's goal at 1 year to the day). I reached my goal of >150 by 15 months. So - hang in there - as long as you follow the program you can get there.
