I ate the thin deli turkey lunchmeat. I rolled them up and ate them with a
cheese stick. Also, cottage cheese and yogurt, and most of all your protein
drinks. I used a protein mill, (the lid has the criscross shaker) to help
blend up the powder protein of Whey. You can eat fruit but just be careful
of the fruits with a lot of natural sugar. I ate peanut butter on a small
tortilla. Chew that real good though. You can also put your food
(regular) in the blender and add a little water or broth so it isn't dry
and put it in a small oz cup. I would blend a buritto supreme (sounds
gross to eat) but it worked. It had the protein and I didn't eat a lot at
once. So blended food works well.

Wendy's chili was good during that phase, black beans and taco beef, soups.
I stuck with things I had had before. Don't try anything new at work in
case it doesn't agree with you.

My surgery was June 09, 2009 and when I returned to work, I stocked up with
the basic food items that I was eating right before I returned to work. My
home cupboard and work cupboard look the same. Plenty of protein bars,
oatmeal packets, fat free bumble bee tuna salad and bumble bee chicken
salad. I also bought several cases of bottled water.

If you have a microwave, there are several lean cuisines with just meat and
veggies. I could never eat the whole thing but I managed to get in the
meat. Also you will need a snack, like yogert or cottage cheese or
something. Good luck.

at that point i wasn't eating much in the way of
"recipes"...someone else suggested rolling something up in a
tortilla. for me, i couldn't deal with any bread products at all at that
time, so i just wanted to agree with others suggesting you not eat anything
NEW at work, before you've tried it at home. not that the other person
should not have been eating a tortilla - just that *i* couldn't. i'm seven
months out now (wow! can't believe it's been that long!) and i still can't
eat much in the way of bread/rice/etc - fills me up way too fast.
when i went back to work, here's what i brought:
cottage cheese
refried beans (i mixed in a little cheese and some fat free plain greek
yogurt, sometimes i'd cut up a little avocado, too, but that doesn't keep
super well)
yogurt
pre-mixed EAS AdvantEdge protein drinks
string cheese
it really depends on what you can tolerate right now. i couldn't eat tuna
at that point yet very well, but i was (and still am!) fairly paranoid
regarding eating things that might not go down well. i do think a tuna
salad would be a good thing to bring, though. lots of protein.
good luck! i didn't have an appetite at all, then, so i really had to make
myself eat. because of that, i was always really careful to eat almost ONLY
protein, with a little produce added in when i could.
congrats on the surgery, and on going back to work! beyond food, remember
to take it easy. you've been through a lot and your body is still healing
and has changed so much - get lots of rest, and LOTS of fluids.

To change up the cottage cheese, cheese sticks, deli meat routine, I take
leftovers. Pre-measured portions of things I know I can eat and that have
been prepared per my nutritional needs. You will find a lot more variety in
cooking for yourself and then freezing it rather than trying to live on
convenience foods. There are a lot of great recipes and food ideas on
Eggface's website, theworldaccordingtoeggface.com. Good luck and remember
to get plenty of rest. Those first few weeks back can be surprisingly
taxing.

I would mix a can of water packed tuna or chicken with some mayo and/or
mustard and eat it with a few pretzels. Fat free refried beans with cheese
and some salasa was something I did for a change. I eat Bari Wise protein
bars as a snack at work. Their webiste is bariatrichoice.com, I love their
products and they all have a money back guarantee.

2 of the best things for me, even now at 6 mos post op, when I am not
feeling too well, but know you have to eat something, I always have a
serving of potatoe buds (little more on creamy side) with the "I can't
believe its not butter" spray 0 cal/0 fat, etc.. and 1/4 c shredded
moz. cheese and heat. 2nd, is a portion of cottage cheese with a tsp of no
sugar jams. Really brings out good flavor if you are bored with plain
cottage cheese. 2 of my favs. Good luck and happy hunting.
