Question:
Surgical Glue
I have not seen any posts regarding surgical glue. I had the RNY and my doctor used the surgical glue and I think I healed pretty good. It was kinda of weird looking, but no one talks about it. What is your experience with it and perhaps we should recommend to pre op patients to ask their surgeon to use the glue post op. Thanks for sharing. Any answer is fine. I am just trying to get the word out. — Kristy (posted on July 24, 2009)

My doctor used surgical glue for my incisons too. They healed very nicely
and did not itch or anything at all!

At 19 months out and a little tan you can hardly see my scars!

My doctor also used surgical glue. I'm still healing, but the incisions
look pretty good. Amazing stuff, huh?

My surgeon used surgical glue on the external part of the incisions,
dissolving sutures inside. I never had staples to worry about, or anything
else... it was great!

my surgeon used stitches on the inside and the glue on the outside. it
looked funny and was kinda purple looking. it also stayed on my skin for a
long time, but that is what it is supposed to do. my small incision scars
are still there but not bad at all. i had to have 36 stitches on my arm
11yrs ago due to a dog bite and those scars are alot worse. not only are
the scars there from the bite, but around them are scars of little holes
where the stitches were.

The glue is the latest and greatest. My nieces thought we were kidding when
we mentioned it. I guess they were thinking Elmers Glue!!! Anyway, it is
supposed to leave less scarring. Amazing new thing

My surgeon also used the surgical glue...my scars are not so nice. I know
as with all scars, with time they will fade. My scars although unsightly
are a reminder of the best decision I have made for myself.
