Question:
I'm down about 33lbs and doing good. What is a good snack food like chips?

I need to find a good snack that will take the place of potatoe chips. How are you all doing? Have some family situations for a while, and that left no time to read or write messages. Good to be back.    — Toby2 (posted on October 30, 2008)

i know this is going to sound really stupid, but i love carrotts and celery. i think it is the crunch that satisfies the chip craving. (i am not a recovering wls patient, but i try to eat healthy). try it, the baby carrots have a lot of flavor, and i just like celery...good luck

Try lesser evil's krinkle sticks - they come in original, sour cream and onion, and pizza. They don't have them near me but you can order from their site. The pizza ones are the only ones I've tried and are good!

Although you must be super careful of these types of items...The soy crisps are very good...air popped popcorn is also good if your surgeon OKs it...The 10 calorie packs of snack foods are good to keep you on good behavior if these items are a problem food... By all means no one is perfect, but these items are usually what got us to the surgeons office in the first place...My husband can eat an immense amount of these snack foods they are empty calories and add up darn fast...I have just started seeing a therapist to get in motion of changing these eating habits for good while I have the restriction and the control...Maybe not a bad idea to change your thoughts and habits on these food rather than trying to find an alternate, may help you more in the long run...Just a suggestion and good luck on your weight loss journey what ever path you follow.

Baked Cheese. Any kind you like, muenster (turns brown when you bake it - you might think it's burnt but it's not) is very good, and so is parmesan. Bake at 350 for 20 min. Place cheese slices or sprinkles on top of parchment paper in a pan. The cheese bakes up real crisp and totally satisfies the 'crunch' craving. *I have also cooked parmesan cheese (grated, right out of the bottle) in the microwave and it turns out delicious. Just sprinkle the cheese on a plate and nuke for about 40 seconds - give or take depending on your microwave! Instant, fabulous snack in less than a minute! ^_^

I do a big spoonful of crunchy peanut butter. It satisfies my sweet and salty urges! Good luck.

I found the Smart Forme Soy Snacks (Ranch Flavor) to be quite good.... they're only 120 cal, 3.5 fat, 410 sodium, 0 fiber, 15 protein, 8 carbs, 0 cholesterol... They're tiny little things, the size of coco puffs cereal or smaller, but they're very flavorful and crunchy.

I just bought a few items from bariatricchoice.com. Protien puffs and soy chips in cheddar cheese flavor are good.

Hey there Nevalle, it has been awhile. You ok? Try looking for things on Genisoy or livinglavidalowcarb.com. I try to be careful about having these things or protein bars in the house because they are too yummy. My biggest problems before WLS were popcorn and chocolate- crunchy and sweet. The replacements are good and sometimes I can't control myself. Good luck, Dawn Vickers

Turkey pepperoni chips. Microwave the pepperoni until nice and crispy. ( About 2-2.5 minutes) Nice alternative to chips and full of protein!

Every surgeon has their own program but my md and dietician told me that to lose wt was to stick to only 3 meals a day without snacking. Be careful what you choose as you have gone through alot and don't want to have wt loss problems again in the future.
