Hi Gary-- will a Former Fat Girl be ok! I went and looked at your
profile, your a very nice looking young man, and you are looking great!!!
Congrats to you. I know that "Head-Hunger" can play a big part
in this duration of the surgery.. last nite one of my daughter's called me,
and said "Mom" I'm Hungry..
she is on the South Beach Diet...and I asked her if she could have
peaunut-butter. and she could, so i had her eat 1 Tbs. real slow, and it
helped her a bunch. the reason i told you this, is because i really feel
you can, and will lose alot more. reaching a peek of 75% just dosen't sound
good enough to me. i can see you at 105% !!!!! Don't give in to that
"Food" it got you where you had to have this done to begin with.
right? i feel at least 99% of this whole journey is
"Self-Dicipline" and i know you can beat this phase....I wish i
could make it easier for you, but unfortunatly this is something you must
do. keep active, eat less, be aware of your surroundings... just because
your body will let you eat more, dosen't mean you have too...Be and Stay
Strong......I have Faith in you...when you get that urge to Eat-Eat-and
keep eating, pull yourself away, move your mind to something else... just
because your a guy, you still get emotions, and head-hunger, and
fall-downs, and discouraged etc. just like us females!!!! Keep Going
Gary....your not done, and prove yourself to your doctor your not done...I
hope you will e-mail us back, and say- omg- 10 more off!!!! I Wish you the
Best of Luck- Strength- Losing... YOU CAN DO IT :) and most of all; you
will be glad you didn't give in to this....God Bless ( i'm not sure any of
this made sense, but then again- i'm not sure it was suppose to)

RNY is only a tool for weight loss, and you still have plenty of work to
do. It took me 7 months to loose 100 pounds, and that's a little less than
1/2 pound per day. "Get back on the horse" and learn to follow
the rules you learned first. Find healthy snacks, drink plenty of fluids,
and EXERCISE. These are all ingredients for success. I assume you're taking
your calcium citrate and vitamins. Have your labs been OK, or shown any
deficienceis? Take a water bottle with you at all times. A healthy snack
is dried peas. My wife had a RNY revision last summer. I found the dried
peas for her to eat as she had trouble getting food through the intestines
that had not been used for 27 years. A health food store has these, at
about $1.35 per pound, and 1/4 cup has 6 grams of protein. This is an easy
snack to carry with you in a small ziploc bag, and does not need
refrigeration, and is crunchy like peanuts.

Hi! first off, you are doing great. Your weight loss is awesome. I had
RNY on 1/31 this year..exactly 9 weeks ago today. If you look back on my
blog, I had been at a stand still for 5 weeks I believe. DIdn't lose nor
gain. I was frustrated. Then I"d lose a little 'teaser' weight and
then nothing again. Well, since last thursday, I've lost 3.2 lbs.
I"m upping my protein and pushing to drink more water and change the
exercising. They say we'll hit stalls and plateau's. Sounds like you're
in a little stall, but don't worry...which is what EVERYONE of our OH
family told me when i was so frustrated. Can't say I won't be frustrated
again; but I can say from experience that the lbs do begin to drop again.
Keep working and don't get discouraged.....you've done great

Hi Gary,
You have done great. It is hard when head hunger hits you, but I have had
to take all the food that I should not eat out of the house, as I would get
head hunger and want to eat the wrong things. I don't know if that is your
issue, but you come so far, just focus on your diet and if you can eat
more, snack on carrots, or other raw veggies. I fix a protein shake, as
that seems to fiull me up. Because of this, I don't like them like I use
to, but they still can fill me up. Find something without the calories
that works for you, or eat a large source of protein. When you keep 75% of
your calories from protien, you find that you will loose better. Best of
success to you.

Hi Gary - I suggest you try to get your head back to when you first had the
operation. Go here and try this: http://www.5daypouchtest.com/
Just because you can eat and drink everything doesn't mean you should. The
surgery is not a cure all - just helps you get on track. The rest is up to
you. You are so close, don't blow it now!

You really should consider counseling with someone who specializes in
compulsive over-eating. Call the hospital where you had your surgery and
speak to their Registered Dietician, he/she can recommend someone.

You are doing great...These plateaus can be so annoying. If you are getting
more and more hungry, try cutting back on sugar, bread, flour, rice,
potatoes and stick to complex carbs such as fruits and veggies and whole
grains. THose bad carbs make you crave more and more and give youthe worst
hunger pangs! Eat til you are satified and it might do you good to weigh
your meals so you know what your belly should feel like with
"Sufficient" food and not being full! Eat til you are
satisfied...Sometimes knowing that you have had enough is all you need to
get back on track. Once you know how much food is enough...don't eat more
and you will be pleasantly surprized how easy it is to maintain your weight
forever! Always take one sevrving at a time...and never sit with the
entire bag and pick...I hope this helps you!

Hi Gary, you don't need help, you need patients and consistency, and you
will break through being stuck. Check it out, 75% gone! Wow! You are
getting more hungry because you have hunger anxiety. It is head hunger.
Just because you can eat doesn't mean we have to eat. The body/brain loves
to trick you, that is why we were obese in the first place. You keep doing
all the right stuff, and find a distraction to food, and watch those
amounts that you eat! They matter. After eating a small portion, have a
cup of hot tea or water or even milk, do something to stop the chewing and
wait. It usually passes, and don't be afraid to not finish your plate. If
you want to stay away from obesity you have to retrain your mind. Your
mind plays lots of obese tricks on you, you have to discover them and
challenge them and sometimes distract them like a 2 year old in the cookie
jar. Take care. Patricia P.

Gary, you are doing good. I had my open RNY on 10/8/07 so I am just a few
days from you. I have lost 79 pounds now and it is getting harder. I heard
and it works that if you want to get the weight loss going again you have
to do PEW. PEW is protein, exercise and water. If you do that you will lose
weight. It really works. Give it a try and I bet the scale will move. Good
luck, Gary.

Gary, You are doing what we have all done along our journey, so just keep
doing what ur doing and success is there for u. Dont stress on it and make
sure when eating u get the protein and don't get to many carbs or sugar.
If u feel like you want to eat more just remember that we do eat for the
wrong reasons and that we got obese because of this. Journaling your
feeling when u get that urge helps u to understand the triggers for
overeating.
I hope this helps,
Joni
