Question:
What complete adult multivitamin should I take

My surgeon said I can start taking a complete adult multivitamin now. What is the best kind to take and where do you get them. Thanks    — socialwork0608 (posted on November 30, 2007)

FWIW, I can't tolerate large pills so I use a chewable vitamin. The one I get is from http://bariatricadvantage.com/products.htm. Good luck.

I take 2 kids chewables. I have done this for 4 years and my labs are great every year. I do take the ones with iron because I noticed if I don't I will test low in iron.

There are a wide variety of vitamins available today. Powders, pills, liquid, chewable, etc. I like a liquid vitamin, as it bypasses the digestion system for quick absorbtion, it does not fill up the pouch (vitamin, b-complex, biotin, C, etc.), does not upset the stomach, and begins working in about 3 minutes after drinking it. I'd recommend reading about the GBG liquid vitamins on my web site link. This particular one has 16 times the B-12, 10 times the B1 & B2, etc. etc. as a normal vitamin. These area available on the Internet on an auto ship basis. These cost about $1 per day, once the shipping and handling costs are added to the $19.95 purchase price. I've used them for almost 4 months now, and am very satisfied with them. Be careful, as some of these Interenet available vitamins have less supplements in them, yet cost between $35 and $60 per month, before shipping. I used one of these before (Vemma), and found them to be too expensive, and further investigation showed they had less vitamins than the GBG I currently use. DAVE

Different vitamins work for different people. I tried a few but they didn't help me keep my blood levels in good shape. The one I have found that I absorb well is Centrum the pills. I am one of the lucky few that does absorb a lot from that multivitamin. It also depends on how much money you are able to spend. Try a few different kinds, and take them for a couple weeks, then have some blood work done. If your levels aren't good, try another one etc...Good luck and God bless!

I like the Centrum Chewables. The bariatric advantage chewables are OK, but kind of gritty (to me; my 18 year old daughter loves them! ) My friend just takes the flintstones. I do know you need a GOOD quality vitamin. The iron I was taking before surg was not absorbing at ALL. The bariatric advantage is finally doing the trick & I am not anemic for the FIRST time in my life! :0D Everyone is different so you will probably just have to try different ones.

I have tried all of the chewables that I can find. I have also taken the grocery store types. My husband has taken the Solgar V75 for about 20 years and I decided I would try those. I feel better than ever. They are big pills, but I haven't had a problem with large pills since about 3 months out. Those have worked the best for me. Good luck.

I take 1 viactive chocolate chew vitamin daily and my labs have been wonderful. They also taste great and they are not that expensive. I get them at walmart for around $7.00 and 1 box lasts me 2 months.
