Question:
Does anyone have a problem with hiccups?
I get hiccups everytime I eat. I'm starting the "mushie" diet today. Could this be hppening because i'm full? — Joann King (posted on September 25, 2007)

Hi Joann, I just attended the Nutrition class (surgery date is 10/11) and
the Dietitician who taught the class had her RNY five years ago. She shared
with us that she always gets the hiccups after eating ... it's her body's
signal that she is full. HTH, Cindy

I am 6 months out and get them ALL the time. Don't worry...it's just your
body saying "stop feeding me!"

I also get them, more so after I have something to drink than eat. I have
noticed I get them them when I drink to fast or to much. But I have also
gotten them when I eat. I thought it was just me lol.

Your new stomach is much higher that the old one. Sometimes when you eat it
may touch your diaphragm(spelling). This is the muscle that control
breathing and when is spasms hiccups are the result. this was what I was
told by one of my doctors and it does make sense.

I just started getting hiccups very recently. I am 2.5 years out from RnY.
I wonder why it took so long for me to get them?
