Hi Jaclyn.......Do you realize it has only been 3 weeks and you have lost 15 pounds?? That is 5 pounds per week. That is unbelievable. I will be thrilled to lose that fast. Yes I do drink tea with Splenda all the time. Try Crystal light too. It didn't take you 6 months to put it all on, so relax and let it happen. Just stay as close to the diet as you can. I think you are doing great.......Mimey

That's a good loss since I don't think you are moving. You didn't mention that you are exercising. THAT is a big KEY to the wl. Get up and shake that junk in the trunk! hahaha you will start to dump that fat like a Mack Truck! You go easy and build it up and you will start feeling way better too!

You are doing great. My surgeon's office wants a person to lose 2 to 3 pounds per week. I'm averaging 2 per week, some weeks more, some weeks less. Also it all depends on how much you have to lose. I had my surgery on April 10, 2007 (Lap RNY) and I have lost a total of 68 lbs, (47 lbs. since surgery). Some people have looses more, some less. I am very thankful for ANY I loose. On the tea issue, I drink Decaffinated tea with diet sugar and lemon. You can get the Lipton Mix in a jar already sweetened with Splenda and with lemon. Good luck in your journey. Annetta

Hi Jaclyn, thanks for writing. Honey, you have not even been out one month, and you lost 15 pounds. WAY TO GO! This is wonderful. Jaclyn, this is not a miracle, this surgery, it is just a tool. It will not produce any weight loss for you, you have to fight for it, even from the beginning. Do the program, water, protein and exercise, lots of exercise and lots of water, and you will move along just fine. Take 15 pounds of margerine or butter and stack them up at the store next time you are there (don't buy them), but look at how much fat it is, and it is NOT on your body any more. How about 3 bags of 5 pounds of sugar, that much fat is gone from your body. These things take time, and don't let your head get ahead of your progress, it will make you unhappy and dis-satisfied no matter how much you lose. Celebrate what you have already lost with a nice hot bath and a good book. A cup of tea with splenda is good, but it should be decalf tea, especially in the early phase (the first 2 years). It sounds like a long time, but girl you had surgery to win, not lose, so why ruin it with something when you can win? You entered the battle, now fight for your health. You are worth it. When you go to your first appointment tomorrow, you celebrate what you have lost and be glad for what you have. Your attitude is gonna take you a long way. If you worry and have anxiety and dis satsifaction with where you are, it will hold you back, if you celebrate your weight loss, are thankful and full of anticipation to the next right thing for your body, you will see each day differently and enjoy every pound you lose, and not lose heart when you have a stall. Attitude will be important, but it starts now! You are doing great, and keep up the good work. I even celebrated when I lost a lot of hair. It is just hair. If I needed a wig (which I did not), then I would get one, I was losing weight for the first time in my life, and it was wonderful. I celebrate a size 4 now, and am thankful just like I was while I was losing weight. It keeps me going every day. Hope you catch the grateful bug! Take care, Patricia P.

Hi Jaclyn! Can you think of the last time you lost 15lbs? For most of us it has been a long time since loosing and that is why we do the surgery, because we need the help of this tool! Remember you are also healing right no, some people weight more after the surgery due to all the swelling and trauma to your body. Just remember to walk as much as you can and do your protein. I will be 6 weeks post-op tomorrow and I'm down 31 lbs!! So see we are about the same! I also worry that I'm not loosing fast enough, but then I remind my self of how long it has been since I lost weight. I have struggled with my weight my whole life so although at times slow, we have to celebrate every ounce we loose!! I'm happy as long as the scale keeps going down and not up!! I now weight less than I did 7 years ago when I started my new job. They did a physical and I remember how embaressed I was about my weight, ofcourse with time I put on more weight. The story of my life till now!! Since 5/16 and lap- RNY that is changing!!! We are doing good girl! Keep it up!!!

When is the last time you lost 15lbs in one month?! I think we all feel at one point or another that we are postop failures. We are all different and the "lose rate" varies. I also think that we see too many TV shows that show the surgery and then the end stage without showing what goes on in between. I will say that I have seen great successes and self-induced failures. By that I mean people that think they can have surgery, but don't exercise or eat right. I knew someone that never gave up their Mountain Dew and at our 1 year group had lost only 50-60lbs while the rest of us lost 100lbs+ For myself I started at 350lbs and at the one year marked weighed 172lbs for a total of 178lbs lost. I now sit 152-155lbs at 18 mos out. Best of luck, you can do it!

I think that there is a section of us who do not reach their goal for reasons unknown. Don't beat yourself up.
