Question:
Are there facilities in the US that are exclusive to only bariatric surgeries?
I want to know if there are hospitals or surgery centers that do only bariatric surgeries. — klcombs (posted on June 13, 2007)

Barix Treatment Center in Ypsilanti Michigan....
Good place.
They only do weight loss surgery and plastic surgery for after weight loss.

My surgeon specializes in RNY and LAPBAND. The hospitals he is affiiated
with have Bariatric Coordinators AND Bariatric Wings - if you will for the
recovery time in the hospital. I had WONDERFUL nurses and was NEVER w/o
anything I needed (meds, assistance, etc.). I am sure there are facilities
that specialize and ONLY do bariatric procedures and nothing else. Good
luck.

If you can't find a surgery center near where you live try looking for a
surgeon that does only bariatrics. There are a lot of them out there now.
My Dr. did a wonderful job even though he is a general surgeon. Only about
150 RNY a year in the clinic I went to. On the other hand my daughter went
to a Dr. who does exclusivly bariatrics and his clinic cranks out around
1000 a year. Can't help but think the repetition of the procedure is good
for all concerned. If I had had a choice I would have gone to someone that
does bariatrics exclusivly. Sometimes you are stuck with what your
insurance will approve. Good Luck and God Bless, Norma

I had my RNY at Innova Hospital in San Antonio. It's a small 4-bed
hospital dedicated solely to bariatric surgery. They also do follow-up
type surgeries like gall bladder removal for their bariatric patients.
