Question:
I want to have gastric bypass.
My insurance is Anthem PPO, does anyone have this insurance? Did it cover your surgery? Please let me know the details. — PatriciaAE (posted on March 31, 2007)

You might also want to post this on the insurance board as well.
Good Luck to you

Yes! I have the same insurance and was approved within 2 months. I called
the insurance company and had them email me every one of its requirements
so that there would be no misunderstandings. My cardiology clearance was
what held me up or I would have had surgery two to three weeks sooner than
I did. We had to pay the first $250.00 and the insurance covered everything
else. I have had two major complications since the surgery and all was
covered... even the private duty nurses I had for seven months following
the initial WLS and medical supplies. Good Luck!

you may want to check your anthem group's specific policy info. call the
office, check any documents they've sent you, check with
insurance/financial specialist at surgeon's office to be sure of
details/exclusions of YOUR particular plan. good luck.
