Question:
I want to know what to expect after Lap-band surgery
Will I have trouble getting all of my water and protein in? How much can I expect to be able to eat a year after the surgery. — elise77 (posted on November 27, 2006)

I am only a little over 3 weeks post-op, when I really work to get my water
in, I have been able to, but it has to be a conscious decision. As for my
protien, I am really having problems there, I can not even get my protien
shakes in, just not hungry. I hope that helps a little.

I am almost 2 months post- op.
I can get my water in if I remmember but I had problems getting enough
protien, but now I take a protien drink when ever I need more protien and
all is good. I couldn't eat much the first few weeks , just wasn't hungry
but now I am more hungry and can eat quite a bit. I go for my first fill
soon then I should be eating just small amounts. I'm told about 1/3 of what
I used to eat.
Hope this helps.
I hope that is what it will be like a year out too.

Hi;
I'm 6 weeks out, and having lots of trouble getting in the water-- I wake
up most nights feeling like I am lost in the desert. I was a big water
drinker before surgery, so it's been hard. I'm also very active now, so
getting enough water in is hard. Eating has become difficult with the
timing issues, and it has all been a bit overwhelming. I've been told it's
not unusual at this stage, and it gets better.
