I know exactly what you mean, when i went into my old pcp office to ask her
about wls and showed her my mri she said "i absolutley will not aprove
of you getting wls you need to get your back opperated on first and then
i'll put you on an exersize program and make you get the weight off the
right way, not take the easy way out"... .. thats what happend to me
when i started this journey about two months ago, so what i did was just
call around different drs offices (that my insurance aproves) and one of
the first questions i asked them was "Does the dr in the office aprove
of wls" i found one in my first phone call to my now new pcp..
I had felt so guilty about wanting to get a new pcp but then when i went to
the wls seminar and explained what happend in my old pcps office the
Sergeon said.. "don't you realize, you are paying your dr to help you
in all your problems, and you have a right to get a dr that will help you
in your problems. I would sugest getting a new pcp" so i did.
I just now came back from my new pcp office appointment and was told by
him, "paula anything you need from me to get your wls please just let
me know, it will be such a healthy thing for you to have done".. im
feeling so good right now.. i know it may take up to a year before i can
get the accualy surgery but i now have a professional on my side willing to
help in any way.
my advice to you would be, if you have a BMI of 40 + or 35 with a comorbid
obesity problem to find a new pcp and one that will stick up for you in
your dessision.
take care
Paula
