I've had two successful pregnancies as a post-op, and have not had trouble
producing breast milk. That being said, I did not enjoy breastfeeding - it
frustrated me and that made feeding time stressful for both me and baby -
so I made the decision to switch to formula earlier than I had originally
intended.

Hi, Unless you have had breast augmentation you should have NO trouble
producing breast milk. The glands in your breasts have nothing to do with
your stomach surgery. Good luck nursing and do not worry about the milk.
Your body will naturally make the milk you need based on how much the baby
drinks. You will not run out of milk. The more you pump the more your body
will make.

you should be justa s able to produce milk as if you had not had wls. BTW
you CAN breastfeed if you have had an augmentation!
some people who have had a reduction cannot, but they should give it a try
rather than assuming they can't.

hi-- I have been nursing my son for nine months now and I have enough milk
to nurse a few more! the only problem I have with nursing is that I cannot
seem to lose any more weight... oh well.. there is time for that later, I
suppose!

Congratulations! I breastfed both children, and it is such a wonderful
experience. Not to mention that it is much easier (no need to haul around
bottles and formula), and you do not ever get caught out without the stuff
to feed your baby! Srtudies also show that it is much better for your
child. Breastmilk transfers immunities to the baby, and breastfed kids
tend to have higher IQ's!!!!
If you are having trouble, contact your local hospital and ask for a
contact, or ask at your Ob's office. They can direct you to someone who
knows all about breaastfeeding. If they do not have any contact info, look
online or in the phone book for your local LaLeche League. they are a
little extreme, but they know their stuff!!!!
