Carol,
I see that you are seeking a revision. It is VERY important that you
choose your surgeon very carefully. If it were my decision to make,
depending on whether you choose to stick with the RNY and have it fine
tuned, or a conversion to another surgery (seems like the trend is RNY to
DS), I'd do some serious research - make sure you ask post-ops what their
results have been.
A good resource is the Revision yahoo group - lots of members over there,
and great information. Here's the link:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DS_Revision/
I've got several friends who have had my surgeon do their Conversion
surgeries. A lot of insurance companies will not cover the costs
associated with this, so many people end up self-paying. Dr. Keshishian in
California is very well respected, and his post-ops seem to be doing very
well. My surgeon is Dr. Aniceto Baltasar (www.bodybybaltasar.com) and he
has done MANY conversion surgeries, too.
You need to make sure you really get someone who is in your court - someone
who will be an advocate for you - because it's a documented fact that
revision/conversion post-ops do not lose as well the 2nd (and subsequent)
time out on WLS. So it's really important that it's someone who recognizes
this and is willing to tailor the surgery to your specific needs.
Sorry to write such a book. It's just so vital to make sure you're willing
to fight for yourself. Please let me know if I can help at all, okay?
Blessings,
dina

Dr. Oh in Washington State is a very experience surgeon, very proficient,
and can repair things that other surgeons won't touch. He is also one of
the few surgeons in US who is qualified to teach bariatric surgery.
<p>
You can find info at www.OhToBeThin.com.

He's my doc, and is the best around, IMO.
