Question:
BowFlex anyone?

We are considering purchasing a BowFlex system for the strength training capabilities. Has anyone used this and what is your opinion about it? — Arizona_Sun (posted on October 5, 2003)

Just an FYI ... our local Costco had them a couple of weeks ago in stock. Was really surprised to see them there. Here's a link filled with LOTS of reviews on the bowflex, I have never used it ...

http://www.epinions.com/sprt-All-Exercise_Equipment-Bowflex

I like BowFlex a lot better than regular weights. I have mine set up in the family room so that I don't have any excuse not to work out!! The nice thing about it- you can fold it up and stuff it in your closet when people come over. Even the one with all the extras can still be moved by one person.

I bought a BowFlex through Fingerhut MANY years ago. It was the junky one that BowFlex makes. It is white and just plain junky. But I love it. I have'nt used it in years as I'm a pack rat and don't have room to open it up. You need alot of room for the rods to move. But dang it, I've got to make room for it. I can't say enough how much I love BowFlex! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM. When I was using it (Pre Op) after about 20 minutes I'd walk away with a "high". I can't figure out why, but dang that thing made me feel so elated. :)

I saw the one at Costco and we have decided that would probably be the one we would purchase as it is a pretty good deal. They are a tad misleading with their comparison of what it would cost from BowFlex direct though because they are not comparing apples to apples (same model to same model offered by BowFlex). Still it is a very nice savings over mail ordering. Given that it is not a small investment at about $1500 with tax I was checking to see how people liked it. I have room in the family room for it and will move an antique piano to accomodate making that room into a fitness room. The heck with company, fitness will be first. haha.

We looked at the bowflex this spring and after trying it in the store decided to buy a Parabody CM3 (Life Fitness) cable system weight machine (similar to the Bowflex only with weights) because it was cheaper, took up less space, and was easier to use. But, you know what...the best machine for you is the one you will actually use. I would find a place that carries them on the floor and try a couple of moves and just see what you think.

hiya~ they are worth the money if you USE it. we bought one but i discovered that i will work out if i GO to the gym but if the "gym" is at my house, i'd rather hang out on the couch! lol so my hubby & son use it while i go to the gym... it is a good machine, easy to use and the book/video are very helpful. good luck, kate

Very expensive and you are paying for the name. I bought one at about 12 months post-op with every intention of using it. Unfortunately, I didn't....mainly because it was somewhat awkward. They make it look nice and smooth, but it's a little hard to make the smooth-controlled movements that you see the hunky guy on TV doing. I'd suggest going somewhere and trying one out before buying it. Another great thing is to go to Sears or somewhere else and try out other pieces of equipment that you won't have to spend a small fortune on. Good luck to you!
