Question:
I am about 3 weeks post op. I am doing my best to get all of my protein in.
I try to use a protein shake or broth to add protein. Is it to soon for me to be trying any of the bars?? Also does anyone use the atkins supplements other than bars and shakes? I need some ideas to help me get my protein in. — SINDI W. (posted on July 5, 2003)

Isopure 0 Carb Protein Drinks. Have 40g of Protein per drink. I usually
consume one over about 45-an hour. I get mine at a Health Food Store here
called The Smoothie King. They are made by Natures Best. Helped me alot
get my protein in everyday (109g per day)

It seems there are as many eating plans as there are surgeons, so you
should probably check with your doc about what you should eat at this
point. At three weeks out I doubt that I could tolerate anything as dense
as a protein bar. In addition to food, I get protein from the Rocomojo soy
"coffee" substitute (13 grams of protein per cup). I have two
cups every morning and love the stuff (you can check it out at
www.rocomojo.com.; efoodpantry.com has had the best prices on it lately).
I also use the Nectar products. I like both the cherry and apple flavors.
I never could stand the shakes, so at three weeks out, I was using double
protein milk as a supplement (mix powdered milk in with regular skim milk).
You might also try mixing unflavored protein powders or powdered milk into
your liquid foods (like yogurt or soups) for extra protein.
