Question:
I have't lost anything in 7 weeks. I lost 60 lbs since surgery on Aug 22nd.
But since I have been stuck at this weight I am starting to feel blah again. Has anyone else had a plateau last this long? What can I do to get the weight loss going again? I have upped my water, protein and walking. I have 70 more to lose. Thanks for any input... — Betty M. (posted on February 5, 2002)

Betty: I too have been on a plateau for about 7 weeks now...I am 7 months
post-op and stuck at 210lbs (down from 300) I also have about 70-75 lbs to
lose...I have treid the incrasing my water, eating proteins, and exercise
till the cows come home..but nothing seems to budge this weight to start
coming off again...Maybe we could be plateau buddies? lol Not sure what
else to do now..I am hoping that my body has to do a major catch-up and
start losing again..I will be writing down everything I eat, counting the
calories, proteins, etc. just to get a view of what/how much I am actually
eating..Good luck, MJ (300/210/135, Open RNY 6/25/01 Boston, MA)

I read somewhere if you're stuck to go back to clear liquids for I think a
week. Then go to regular liquids for another week, etc., and basically
start over again. What I read said that would "jump start"
things and get the WL going again.

My plateaus are usually because I'm either eating too few calories, or on
the other end, eating too many refined carbs. Try increasing your calories
for a week and see if your body will let go of starvation mode. If that
doesn't do it, try cutting out any unnecessary carbs like bread, crackers,
pasta and stick w/ protein, fruit and veggies. Good luck!

Heavens !!! I am GLAD I am not the only one. I have lost 66 lbs since
8/6/01 surgery. I know I am not eating enough. I use a program called
Dietspread I found on the internet to input what I eat daily...I am only
getting 600 - 900 calories per day and 60 - 90 protein. I know I need to
eat more to burn more...Good luck everyone !
