Question:
Has anyone in Texas been approved through Insurance Mgmt Services?
This company is who my employer went with when they made a switch. I was denied after my first letter was sent. I am switching doctors and am going to have new surgeon's office file the letter of medical necessity. I plan to also inundate them with more information and letters of support from my doctors and family if needed. I was given some great advice on proving medical necessity, including sending them the National Institutes of Health's guidelines on Obesity, which says unequivocally that a BMI >40 is all that is needed to prove medcial necessity. If anyone has been successful at getting approval for the RNY with IMS, please email and let me know how you did it. My insurance rep said that out of about 20 claims, they have only approved 2. I am wanting to get approval with my new surgeon without having to go through the appeals process. I know of two people who have been battling with them. One had to self-pay regardless of three appeals and the other is still fighting. So I am afraid now and want to know if I should start researching for a new insurance or start saving my money. Help!
