Question:
Is Lap RNY possible after a myomectomy via laparotomy?
I am having a myomectomy done via a laparotomy incision, what I would like to know is if it would be possible to have rny laparoscopically after such an operation? I obviously don't want an open rny due to the fact that I will have a scar across my lower abdomen 6 to 8 inches long. If I had the open procedure, I would have an upside down T on my entire stomach/abdomen area. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks to all. — Diana M. (posted on December 31, 2000)

Hi Diana, the two surgeries won't present a conflict. The laparotomy for
the myomectomy will involve the lower abdomen; the tiny incisions for the
lap RNY will be scattered across the upper abdomen only. I had six
1/2" incisions (in March) and now can only locate 2 of those...no
tubes, no drains, no external sutures or staples :-) Best wishes!
