Does anyone know how you find out if there are any complaints filed against a Dr?

You can call the state medical board in the state that your surgeon practices. This is public information, so they will be able to tell you what you need to know.

On most state pages on this site, there is a connection to the State Medical Board and you can check it out there too. Most require you to call or write to request the EXACT nature of board action, but you can find out that way. I have run across at least one that I was interested in that has some type of board activity.
