Question:
Is it normal to be super sensitive to smells?

I have worked for a fragrance company and I love home fragrances. From the day I got home from surgery I have not been able to tolerate fragrances at all.    — ellagriffin (posted on May 17, 2011)

When I had my surgery I was more sensitive to smells, it is better now but still I am sensitive, especially to foods on other folks, I can smell everyone's breath, it is gross.

I had my surgery in January of 2010.. (RnY).. I remember coming home and getting an ice pack out of the freezer and I swore that it stunk like onions LOL.. it took a couple of months for it to settle down but YES.. the sense of smell was extremely heightened for a little while.. the good news, is that it gets better, it just takes a little time! Good luck !

I have not had my surgery yet...but when a close friend of mine had her about 10yrs ago...there were smells that made her sick...like Bath & Body Words Sweet Pea..and that was my favorite scent back then

I was super sensitive to all smells. Everything pretty much made me feel green for the first 6 months. I still can't tolerate some smells like bell pepper, garlic and onion, smells I use to love. I can smell relish a mile away, so just hang in there. Think of it as another deterrent to stay on goal. Best wishes.

Hi. I had my surgery in Jan.2010 and boy it was bad! I could not stand to smell garlic! My poor husband who loves garlic (and so do I) could not come near me! We threw anything out of the house that came close to smelling like garlic, onions or coffee! The weather was cold then but when my husband had to drive me anywhere, the windows had to be down! But after about two months, things got a lot better. I still don't know why I had that problem. I hope it is better for you soon. HUGS!
