Hi, I think this was the easiest of the whole thing in the hospital. About 24 hours after surgery they wheel you down to the x-ray department and give you this stuff to drink (about 1/4 cup) not great tasting while they x-ray you to see if your pouch is leaking. The worst part of this is leaving your room and having to work around the oxygen, IV and other stuff connected to you. The whole thing took about 30 minutes total. This is nothing to worry about and good luck you will do great!!!!

Hi, I had RNY Gastric 12/09 and am down 100 lbs. My surgeon here in San Antonio did the pouch test right after my bypass so it was no adding testing after my surgery was done. I concur that it's to test for leaking of the pouch. Best of Luck & God bless you on your journey :-)

the pouch test is a 5 or 7 day test that utilizes the post op stages to help shrink you pouch back, and get you back on track when you are heading down a bad path
