Has anyone ever had Blood Platelet issues (ITP) after surgery and your spleen removed

I had low blood platelets(ITP) all through my last pregnancy about two and
a half years ago. I never had to have my spleen removed though. As soon
as I gave birth to my baby they went back up to normal. But I did have
alot to go through during the pregnancy because of it. How did you find
out that you have it and are you pregnant at the moment because sometimes
being pregnant brings it on??? Jeannie

Jeannie,
Thanks for responding...I am not pregnant first off...I started having
bruising all over my body and my PCP referred me to a Hematologist when I
went in my platelets were at 3,000 so they put me right in the hospital. I
have had globulin infusions and steroids for the past 2 mos. they are now
talking about removing the spleen. I was just curious if anyone who had
WLS also experienced this post surgery.

Well I'm not to sure about it because mine were low. They were actually
down to 25. But I did have to do the same things your were saying even
though mine were low. I was on high doses of Prendisone throughout my
whole pregnancy and went to a hemotologist and also got lots and lots of
gammo globulin infusions. I also had to go to the lab and get blood tests
at least twice a week for almost a year. I hated it. I'm sorry you have
to go through this. If I were you I would try to find out more about it.
Research as much as you can online and in books. Maybe even see another
doctor and see what else you can do. I know there is this website If you
do a search about ITP that if you do a search online for it it will come up
and alot of people who have ITP use to get help without getting your spleen
removed. Hope you find some help. Jeannie

I am actualy going through this right now. My platelet count is elevated.
I don't have the numbers. I have been to my pcp and she is monitoring it.
She said some people just have a high platelet count and no other problems.
Good luck to you. I will post if I find more information.
