Question:
Celebrex forv Post Op Pain
Has anyone been taking Celebrex for severe arthritic pain after they have had RNY? I am getting a bit desperate for some pain releif. I am told Celebrex is considered fairly safe for Gastric By-pass patients. — katiecakes (posted on September 18, 2009)

I have Fibromyalgia and I use the Fentanyl patch 50mcg and Norco for
backup. I also have arthritis and it helps for this. I had RNY 3.5 yrs
ago and so I prefer the pain patch over oral meds, except for the backup
Norco if I need it. Ask your doctor to let you try the patch and he should
put you on a low dose like 12 mcg at first until you get used to it, then
they will bump it up to make you more comfortable.

I am a lap-band patient and I take celebrex every day. I do take pepcid
perscription strength along with the celebrex to protect my pouch. So far
so good.

I was placed on Celebrex directly after my RNY (2Jun2009) for post op
inflamation without any problems. Just remember like before surgery you
have to take it with something in your stomach. We are more susceptible for
stomach ulcers postoperatively.
Good luck
