Question:
Is ingesting geletin capsules/tablets okay at some point?

Hello! I am 7 yrs post GBS and have reached my goal weight. I sort of remember reading on some site that we cannot/should not use any kind of geletin tablets. I want to do an organic total body cleanse and the tablets are in geletin tablets. Is okay this far out? I have a call in to the physician who did the surgery, but may not get a call back since he has moved on from GBS. Thanks! Cricket    — gemntheruff (posted on June 8, 2009)

I use gelatin capsules, but I will never use hard tablets of anykind unless they are crushed or chewed...(Not because I am afraid of them getting stuck because I would not swallow a tablet anyway but because they may not be dissolved and then absorbed completely. Often I will open a gel capsule and swallow the powder down with water or flavored drink...If it's something awful tasting, I will just swallow the capsule...Since surgery I have a harder time swallowing anything I have not chewed, so those big capsules can be challenging for me...Often it will take me a few tries to get a larger capsule down...This is how I know they dissolve quite fast! I've had the capsule dissolve by the 3rd or 4th try in swallowing it down...To help them dissovle faster I often take vitamin capsules with warm water or tea...I've heard some will leave the capsule in their mouth til it feels gummy and then swallow! That's a good idea as well...

I am nearly a year out and can do tablets just fine now. The coating on the gel tabs should desolve just fine.
