Probably eating a little bit too fast or gulping air...You will over time learn how to not do these things...I never threw up but had many saliva issues, I eat way too fast...always have...9 months out and I can tell within 3 bites that I am going too fast and can prevent an episode most of the time...

I know exactly what you are talking about. My mouth was sooo dry after surgery while in the hospital and then once I got home it was salivating like crazy and it tasted quite yucky!! I had surgery on 3/24 and just in the last few days the saliva has settled down quite a bit. I talked with my surgeon about it and he gave me a prescription for the nausea patch you place behind your ear. I told him I didn't have the nausea feeling but he said sometimes the patch would help dry up the saliva (why I have no idea but I trust his judgment). I have NOT filled the prescription however because the saliva has faded quite a bit but it might be something worth asking your doctor.

I had my surgery 1/15/09 and I felt fine until about 3 weeks out. I started constantly spitting up. Always just saliva, it was frothy. I let it continue for over a week. I finally got so miserable because I couldn't put anything in without spitting it back up. I called the doctor & he ordered a swallow study. I had a stricture! Turns out these can be very common. The opeing to my esophogus had closed with scar tissue from my surgery. My opening was just a pin point. I had to have an Endoscopy right away. They just went in and stretched it out and I have been perfectly fine ever since. I have no problem eating or drinking now. I am 3 months out and lost 55 lbs. My suggestion to you is that if this spitting up has been going on for awhile you should call your doctor. You may have a stricutre!
