Honey, I had surgery in 07 also. This isn't going to be easy. You need to
go back to your surgeon and talk to him about your struggles - then see a
nutritionist. I haven't gained any weight back but I'm on a strict diet.
I use Fit Day to track my exercise, food intake, and water intake and also
my daily weight. You can do this!

You might think about going and talking to someone. There could be some
issues you need to deal with. Or you may just need to talk to someone. I
have gone to counsling through out the years. I started going again when I
decided I wanted to get this surgery. I will continue after I have the
surgery for awhile. Think of it as a tune up. Don't get down on yourself,
think positively. You will make it through this. Good luck. Have a great
day.

Start immediately writting down everything you eat and drink keeping a log.
Starting walking everyday. If in one week you haven't dropped anything.
Call a proffesional. You'll already have a log of food n excerise. You are
taking in too much bad carbs n calories- sugar in anyform.

Depression is a trigger to eat for many people. Find a counselor to help
you work through the problems. They can help you find new ways to cope with
trouble. Then get back on track. Don't beat your self up. This will just
lead to more weight gain. Do it one day at a time and congratulate yourself
for each step you take in the right direction. Walk around the block, then
two blocks. Start small and celebrate each step you take. You can do this.

First it is normal to see an 10% weight gain after the first years...Most
of us have a small gain...I gained back 8 that I cannot lose without some
serious dieting and intervention...Too much work for long term maintenance
for me personally...I maintain the 8 lb gain with no extra weight gain and
no problems...so that's fine with me! The one thing you said is that you
have "no energy"...That is a symptom that needs further
investigation. If you haven't had a full check of all your vitals and
vitamin levels...GO GET LABS! If your vitamin levels are off, your body
can stop functioning properly and can cause you weight gains, even with
mal-nutrition! Maybe you are thinking food food food, because your body is
craving certain vitamins ytou are not getting? Maybe? Start with
labs...and if you are not taking vitamins...you best start taking them!
Then you can consider trying to cut calories and kick up your exercise...

Hey Glenda.. Don't despair. We have all had down times. You should really
consider going and talking to someone. If you can't afford the counseling
or your insurance won't cover it, then consider talking to your pastor, old
friend, etc. Alot of us, myself included tend to gravitate to the old
"comfortable friend" that got me by emotionally. But that
friendship with food can be a costly one. So sit down in a quiet place and
write down why you wanted to lose the weight to begin with... was it get
healthy? Able to comfortably wear a swimsuit? Cross your legs? Fit in a
movie theater/airline seat without spilling over? Fit in a booth at a
restaurant? Be able to play with your children? Etc, etc, etc,... you get
the idea. Write down the positives of having lost the weight, the
negatives (if any) and review that. Get back on your food diary and
exercise diary.... be honest. If you can... start journalling. You will
be surprised about how much it will help to just put all of your thoughts
down on paper. there is a book that is really good that I frequently refer
back to and I had my RNY in Oct 2006... Doctor's Guide to Weight Loss
Surgery by Louis Flancbaum. and it also has some great recipes. go to the
food forum site and get some ideas for some hi protein snacks... I wish you
luck...

I can relate - I also had my surgery in 2007 and lost 99lb. I never could
get that 1 extra lb. off just to say I lost 100 lbs. Additionally, I still
have about 100 lb more to go. I was so discouraged. Not eating huge meals
any longer was not working for me anymore. So, I did some research and
came across 2 great websites - www.LivingAfterWLS.com &
www.5daypouchtest.com. They explained a lot of how the pouch works,
especially when you are not following the original guidelines given to you
in the beginning. Not necessarily, bad things, but for instance, drinking
liquids with your meal. How harmless could that be if you are drinking
water? Right? The information was great and I am starting my 5 day pouch
test. I also use fitday to track everything also. It's free and a
greaaaaaat tool! Good luck. If I were you, I would have the labs done to
see what is causing your lack of energy. If you are eating too many carbs,
that will do it too!

Glenda, don't be so hard on yourself. The fact you are reaching out to the
OH community says a lot. I think all the advise you are getting is great
and I will add that you don't need a gym to get exercise. Just taking a
walk and swinging your arms is good exercising. Some tv systems have
exercise programs - things you can do at home. One show taught ways to
exercise while you are sitting at your desk at work. Having your labs
checked first is the best idea.

I am just a newby but if you can just try to get back to basics, that may
help. Re-evaluate your diet and cut the carbs, stick with protein. You
didn't mention what type surgery you had but if RNY, try the 5 day pouch
test and see if that works for you. I agree with others, don't beat
yourself up you have accomplished alot so just try to stay positive and
move forward.
