well my guess is No. a "Script" is for medication-etc. i had a
friend of mine, her doctor tried to put his opinion on a script, and i
really don't know why. and it was denied. will he write you a letter,
stating that you would be a good candidate for surgery? what kind are you
looking into? anymore most do require at least a 6 mo. supervised failed
diet. i know that plus alot more was required for me with RNY lap. save
yourself the trouble, and get all your paper work in order. this will help
make it easier to submit, and easier for insurance to approve. Good Luck

If you have insurance, most likely they are going to want a 3 to 6 month
scripted diet. It would depend on the insurance if it is 3 or 6 months. You
would also have to do a sleep test, see a psychiatrist, possibly have an
EGD done, plus other tests.

Find a surgeon that will deal direct with your insurance company if the
questions is to get insurance approved. There is more to getting approved
than asking if you have coverage or having a doctor recomend you have wls.

I am not sure how this is done with insurance coverage because I was self
pay but you do not always need a scrip if you are self pay. All you need
to do is to contact the surgeon and follow his directions to get HIM the
information he needs. My Mexican surgeon didn't even want a NOTE from my
primary physician. He just had a General Practitioner that he knew check
me out THERE and when I had gotten the go ahead from HIM, I was scheduled
for surgery the next week. Many people who have a hard time getting the
insurance companies pay for the operation end up paying for them
themselves. Some save up and others finance. Some find a surgeon in the
States and others try to find a less expensive option in Mexico or Central
and South America. For the Foreign options, they usually schedule them
during vacation times and expect to take a week or two off to recover
before going back to work.
I hope this helps,

Insurance issue. If they accept the script then they should pay for
banding. But sounds like they don't have anything in place for you to get
the required referall for placement.
If you have a bmi of 35 try these guys I did. Matt

I had two doctors that put their blessings in writing on a script made for
medications and I took that to my lap band doctor along with my blood work
and other required tests and he accepted it. I don't know why some doctors
feel they have to be hard to get along with. We are trying to help
ourselves in weight loss and all they are doing is prolonging our
suffering.
Good luck.
