Question:
How long until they get back to me?
I sent in my initial assessment papers almost over week ago, (almost 2 weeks) and still no call. Should I call them, or does it take longer then they tell you. (they said as soon as they gather the information they would call). — Ray8719 (posted on December 31, 2007)

Hi, I don't know who the "they" is for you -- surgeon or
insurance -- but I would definitely call them to confirm they received your
documentation, and then call them every other day until you have your
answer!
Good luck :)

Once they review what you sent them, the office will generally contact you
if you need anything else. If not, the office will send it on to your
insurance for approval, I've heard from many people on how long it took and
boy talk about varying times... could be days...weeks..., call every so
often, write down the name of the person you speak with, build a report
with them, makes calling time after time a little easier. Good Luck,

HI Ray, I would call them every other day until you get an answer. I found
that they either lose paperwork or are really slow unless you get on them
about it. I stayed on top of the surgeons office and everytime they said
the needed something from my PCP or the insurance co needed something else
from teh surgeons office, I went out of my way to get it and fax it over or
if that wasn't possible, called everythign until it was taken care of.
I was extremey professional and nice about it; but I wanted this surgery so
bad and wasn't going to let anythign stop me; so I felt like it was in my
hands to ensure I was proactive and ensured everything that was needed was
taken care of.
I wouldn't wait on them to call you or get back to you; I'd stay on top of
them until you get the answers you want. I am schedule for 1/31 (not soon
enough) and felt like I pushed every step of the way to get here. I began
this process on 10/31, so I'm told that 3 months is really good turnaround
from my initial visit to the actual surgery (seems like I've been doing
this process for much longer...but it's 2 months today).
have a happy new year and blessings to you.
