Question:
My right leg has started to hurt. Is it normal?
Ever since I have started to lose weigt I have noticed that my thighs are alot thinner. But I also now have severe pain in my right leg. Is that normal? — shaziakhan01 (posted on September 22, 2007)

It is probably nothing but if it is severe or constant pain, call your
surgeon right away; it could be a life-threatening blood clot, especially
if you recently had surgery. Better to be safe than sorry.

I don't know if your leg pain has anything to do with your surgery, or not.
Have you been exercising with the weight loss? If not, could it be that
you are losing muscle along with the fat? I really feel that this is the
wrong forum to be going to. I think that you need to call your doctor and
let him/her make the call. I work for a surgeon and am a Support Goup
Leader, and I haven't heard about this. That doesn't mean that it isn't
possible, it just means that you need to call the doctor. Good Luck - Judy

It could also be your potassium is low. When I first had my surgery and I
was eating next to nothing that and losing fast my legs hurted. Once I
started with potassium I was fine, but check with your doctor.

Hi-
Is there redness, warmth and swelling as well? Please call the Doc ...you
can never be too careful. Blood clots are common after surgery.

No. It's not normal. Go see your doctor.

Shazia,
Did you fall or traumatize the leg in any way to explain the pain? If not,
I worry about deep vein thrombosis and possible vitamin (thiamine) or
mineral (magnesium) deficiency when I hear about leg pain. Any
numbness/tingling?
I would recommend calling your surgeon's office if this is still a
problem.
Best wishes,
