Question:
When can we do sit-ups or stomach excercise??
Hi, I am 1 month and 2 weeks post op I had LAP RNY on 4/3/07 and lost 39 pounds so far. I walk 1 hour every other day. When can I start doing other exercise without causing harm to myself. — YVETTE121 (posted on May 17, 2007)

My doctor told me I can start sit ups in one month, but you might want to
call your doctors office and ask what they recommend. 39lbs is great!
Good luck.

Every surgeon is different, mine says 3 months. Tuesday was my 3month
anniverary (LAP-RNY 2/15/07); I signed up for parks and rec classes -- all
abs on Tuesdays. CAn't wait. Check with your surgeon to be safe.

I saw my nutritionist at one month post op and she stated I could start any
kind of exercise routine I wanted. (I had been begging to do tae bo before
one month and was told no! Only walking). Granted every surgeon is
different, however it looks like 1 month is pretty norm...keep up the great
weight loss! I lost 47 lbs my first month! wooohooo God bless!

I tried crunches with the exercise ball -- that was easy but I only did it
once. I hate doing floor exercises but realize I may have to do them
inorder to get that flat stomach.

You should be asking your surgeon this question. He/she is the one who
knows how the surgery went in regards to closure, etc. I was told after my
1mo check up that I could start with the crunches, etc. But be sure to ask
your surgeon
