Question:
Has anyone had any problems getting approved with HIP Medicaid?
Do you know the documents they look for and will you get approved if your PCP wrote a crappy letter? — dianni3046 (posted on February 16, 2007)

If your PCP supports your surgery then they may just ignore the tones of
the letter, but if your PCP does not, then be your own adocate and find a
PCP that will support you. You don't have to be stuck with lousy care, but
it may take a lot of effort and work to find one that will support you and
take your insurance. Being your own advocate if your best bet.
You can contact the hospital where you are gonna consider surgery and see
if they recommend a few names of PCP's that work with your insurance, you
can also go to support groups each time and see who comes and what they
say. There are ways to get information, you just have to fight for it, and
look outside the box.
It doesn't matter who pays for your healthcare. If they are not in your
corner, or concerned about your health intersts, they don't deserve your
money or your insurance. This may or may not be the case with you, only
you know, but consider these things, be your own adovate, and be sure you
have done your homework on the surgery so you are prepared. Surgery is NOT
a miracle, it is a tool. If you won't use it like a tool, it won't help
you. Obesity is a head issue with a body consequence, and if you don't
tackle the head issue, you have a slim chance to have the body consequence
you want. It can still happen, but many people have lost a lot of weight,
only to regain it because they won't use their tool once they lose. They
depend on the "full" feeling, don't practice self control, and
still succumb to the lust for food in their head.
You don't have any posts on your site, so I know nothing about you, but I
hope this works out for you. I put a lot of effort into my research and
prayer and support. God bless me in surgery and my results, but I don't
ever want to take them for granted. I don't want to go back. I wish you
well. Take care, Patricia P
