Question:
Can a person with umbilical hernia?

I read that someone with an umbilical hernia had a lap band surgery AND the dr mended the umbilical hernia at the same time - how could that be when the stomach seems to be under one's breasts and the umbilical hernia is under the navel? Thanks!    — dorisdenton (posted on February 16, 2006)

I had Lap RNY on 8/22/05. At the same time they did the RNY they also fixed my umbilical hernia. They just made another small cut just above my belly button.

I had my umbilical hernia repaired with my lapband surgery.the scars are the smae as the 4 insicions were around the navel to preform the lapband anyway. All the best! Tracey

just means he reached over and did a stitched on the hernia for you while u where out, no big deal, two different procedure's, got paid for them both too. had a umbilical hernia once and it was on the edge of gangrene, so it need to be taken care of. hernia are important to be watched.

I just had lap RNY on 2/14/06 and the dr repaired my umbilical hernia at the same time. He said it was not a permanent repair and that it may need to be repaired again at a later date but that it had to be repaired in case there was any leakages.
