Question:
I am 5'6 and weighed 356 day of WLS
I had WLS on Sept. 21st 2005. (just over 4 months ago).I have only lost 84 pounds. And for the last week I haven't lost anything. Is there anyone else around my same frame that is similar with their weight loss. Also any tips to increase my water. I never feel thirsty so I often forget to drink. — kchurchwell (posted on February 7, 2006)

I am actually behind you and have hit 2 plateaus so far. i had surgery
10/6/05 and have lost 83lbs. I started off at 308 and 5'10". I hit a
plateau for a month in December. then all of a sudden it started losing
again. then i have been stalled for a few weeks now. i have figured out
that my body is having trouble losing weight - it doesn't like to release
it. once i drop 3-4lbs - the next day i will go up 1-2lbs and then will
finally go down again a few days later. its weird - but people i talk to
say the same. how are you doing with your exercise? i work out at curves
at least 3x a week. drinking is another hard thing too - i drink crystal
light just because i don't like the taste of water - and can't get it all
in if its just water. crystal light has a bunch of flavors - there is a
new one - sunrise classic orange. its very light and tastes great. i even
put fiber and protein in there to boost it sometimes. good luck! don't
get discouraged - just keep doing what you are doing and it will come off.

FAST BUT HANG IN THERE BETTER TO LOSE SLOWLY AND NOT HAVE TO MUCH EXCESS
SKIN THEN TO LOOSE FAST AND LOOK LIKE A TURKEY :). WELL KEEP IN TOUCH LETS
SEE HOW MUCH WE LOSE A LONG THE WAY. GOOD LUCK. EVELYN

Hey what's up? I had surgery 9/12/05 and have lost 91 pounds. I think we
are on the same boat. I weighed 331 and am 5'7. The past week and half
it's so slow the weight loss. Just about maybe 2 pounds per week. We have
to realize our bodies hit plateaus. I felt a little disappointed but at
least we are not gaining huh? Everyone said we will hit a plateau. I have
tried to increase my walking. I'm not too thirsty either but I force
myself to drink iced tea. I lost my taste for water after surgery. Good
luck! Don't get discouraged. The weight will start falling off again just
don't give up! Michelle

You guys are doing great--I know its hard not to worry about it--but you
are doing wonderful---I am 5' 8"--started at 338.5
at three months i had lost 61 and at 6 mths I hit 101. Just keep on doing
what you are doing. Plateaus happen for no reason---Time to play catch up
with your body---Enjoy your ride---and just be prepared as things do slow
down later on!

Karen, I had my surgery Sept.29th . I am 5'2 and started at 338. I have
lost 71 lbs and all of a sudden it stopped completely I haven't lost
anything in a month. I too am getting discouraged. "Am I the only one
who the surgery won't work for?" but slow and steady wins the race. It
will come off, just have to be patient a little longer I will try too. As
far as water goes Adirondack flavored water is yumm-o , they have peach,
strawberry, orange and a few more.and like everyone else says crystal light
, must be crystal light coursing through my veins I drink so much. :o) Good
luck on your journey and keep up the good work. P.s. Curves is a fun place
to work out "girls only" and it's only 30 min.!!!!

I think you're pretty normal! I am 4'10" and started at 360. My
surgery was Sept 28, 2005 and I've lost 73 as of two weeks ago. I can't
exercise yet. I would suggest changing up your water. For some reason I
find I can get more in the less I have to suck it out. Wider mouthed
bottles, etc.

Sounds like you are on track! I am 5'6 and the day of surgery I was 334.
At 4 months out I had lost about 65 pounds. You are doing great! I am now
over 2 years out. While I never hit my goal doctor's goal wieght (180), I
now weigh 190 and wear a size 14. The 14's are now getting loose! I am
not currently losing wieght, but I am working out and my body continues to
change. Don't worry so much and ENJOY THE RIDE!!! :-) It is FABULOUS!!!

I had my surgery on Sept. 20th, 2005 and I'm thrilled that I've lost 70
lbs. I started at 261 and I'm down to 191 lbs. I feel like I eat too much
sometimes, but even so, I seem to be doing great so I can't complain!

I do not know what you mean by "only!!!" That is 21 pounds
average per month, which is really good!!!! I only lost twenty pounds the
first month, and then fifteen, then ten per month! I stopped losing (and
even gained a little) at times. that is because your body has to adjust to
the weight loss.
You are doing REALLY WELL!!!!!
