Question:
Is there a time when we finally stop losing weight.
I am 2 1/2 years and down now from 385 to 270. I have been at the same weight for about 1 year now and dispite efforts to lose weight I have not. My body has continued to change but none of those pesky pounds will drop off. I really need to lose about 60 more lbs my doc said. HELP, I do exersize and do not eat sugar but anything you can let me out I would appreciate it. Thanks — katste40 (posted on January 24, 2006)

Makes you mad does'nt it? Yeah I pretty much lost nill from 12-18 months.
That was it. I never could lose the other 35 pounds I wanted to get into
the mid range of the normal bmi.
The only way I lost 10 more pounds was when I was very sick and could'nt
eat for several months. (Did'nt want to eat I should say). Now those 10
pounds and another 16 have come back on. (I'll be 5 years this May). I
don't know what to tell you. I just wanted to let you know, I understand.
Some folks lose all and more than they want. Others of us never get to
goal. However at least we are better off than we were.
Why don't you see your surgeon... have him check things out to make sure
your pouch has'nt enlarged or some other problem. Seems you should be lower
than you are.

Not eating sugar is not enough to loose weight. How about carbohidrate:
potatoes, corn, peas, bread.....are you eating too much of it? Are you
eating enough protein? how about portions and how many calories intake are
you consuming per day? Are you drinking any soda? are you drinking and
eating at the same time? All of the above will stop you from loosing
weight. You are the only person who have the answer and who could modify
the behavior to be able to reach your goal. Consulting with a nutritionist
to help you design a food plan that will work for you is a plus. Good luck
and I hope you'll be able to reach your goal weight.

That is a tough one. I just purchased a book, Exodus from Obesity and I
have not finished it yet, but it is very good for people who are 2 years or
more out. I have found it speaks directly to me. We need more information
on how to re-start weight loss. My only answer is go back to basics and
start over eating as if you just had surgery. It is worth a try!

I am almost 18 months out and I have been at the same weight, give or take
a few pounds for at least the last 9 or 10 months. I started at 390+ and
am down to 260...seemingly forever. I sometimes wonder if this is just
where my body wants to be. I am still obese although much healthier than
before. Email me @ [email protected], we can talk some more.

Thanks guys for all your help I am making an appointment today with the
nutritionist that works with the surgeon to see if they can help me pin
point what I am doing wrong. I am very happy with the sucess so far but
just discouraged with the lack of weight loss for so long. I started a food
journal yesterday to I can see with my own eyes where I may be taking wrong
turns. All of your responces have helped to bring a renewed "this CAN
be done" attitude in me. Thanks again.
