Question:
What are requirements for revisions???
I had Gastric Bypass (RNY) Jan 7, 2002. I have only lost 100 lbs. In the process have gained and loss. I have done diets and exersice and everything in between to loose. From the very begining I was to able to larger amounts than what I thought I should be able to. I believed from the start I had a large pouch. I would like my pouch revised to be much smaller. Does anyone have any suggestions of how I should go about this??? — TAMARA J. (posted on March 25, 2003)

My surgeoin requiresv a nutronist and you to keep a food diary of
EVERYTHING you eat. Have you done this? How much exercise have you gotten?

I'm not sure exactly how to go about it, but you will need to get a scan
and see exactly how big your pouch is. And also need to know how big he
made it to begin with. If it was the average size, usually 1oz stomach or
so, and there is no mechanical failure (staple line if not transected,
etc.), I doubt insurance would pay for a revision if everything would seem
to be in order. Also, as you know, this is a tool. So insurance might want
to see that you exercised and ate right, etc. to prove that didn't help.
Just a thought- I know many people who haven't lost as much or gained and
they did the liquid diet for a few weeks, just like we had to right after
surgery- and that has seemed to help them. Maybe you can give that a try?
Goodluck to you!

Not losing is one reason, regain is another, staple line disruption is
another (then another dozen or so reasons). You might ask to be scoped to
check that out. I had SLD and if I had not revised, I'd have long ago
outgrown my original size 28's.
